According to a recent report by Research and Markets, the China Mobile Augmented Reality Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 109.74% between 2015-2019. China represents a huge market opportunity for both foreign and local companies with its 1.3 billion users. In fact, an earlier Research and Markets report predicts that in the next “five years Japan, China and South Korea will have a major chunk in the market share of AR”.
Last year saw steady growth of AR in China from character translation apps like Pleco and Waygo, Google glass competitor Baidu Eye and companies such as Renren and Tencent who have also invested in InfinityAR.
According to the Research and Markets report, local vendors such as Baidu, Renren, and Tencent have a large share of mobile user base in China citing that “It is easier for these companies to launch mobile apps and reach to large numbers of users than it is for global vendors who are entering the market and trying to capture a significant mobile user base”.
The China Mobile AR report also highlights the key vendors to watch in this space including
- Augmented Pixels
